Spatial Humanities Incubator Group – Tomorrow @ Noon

You are invited to join the Spatial Humanities Incubator Group for lunch on Friday for a third meeting to discuss some current mapping projects and discuss the early stages of your own. This “incubator group” was inspired by the recent THATCamp held at UNC and is open to anyone who would like to join or just listen in.

The meeting will take place in the Carolina Digital Library and Archive conference room (on the ground floor of Wilson Library) from 12:00-1:30.* Lunch is generously funded by Semaphore (Duke/UNC student-led working group on media and technology). PLEASE R.S.V.P. to Sylvia Miller (skm@email.unc.edu)  if you are going to join us, so we have a rough idea of how many sandwiches to order.
The Spatial Humanities Incubator Group will meet five times during the Fall semester 2012 to discuss the current state of spatial humanities and help group members conceptualize and begin planning their own projects. At the first two meetings group members will evaluate and present on existing spatial humanities projects (drawn from those listed at http://anterotesis.com/wordpress/dh-gis-projects/ as well as non-GIS projects); at the remaining three meetings participants will begin drawing up preliminary concept descriptions and proposals for their own projects.  The next two meetings are October 26 and November 2.

We look forward to seeing you!

*It is easiest to enter Wilson at the entrance on the east side of the building on the ground floor. This entrance will lead to a hallway and CDLA (Carolina Digital Library and Archive) is all the way at the end where the big video display is, through the door on the right. If you’re lost, call John at 919-442-8014 or Sylvia at 919-323-5281.
